Richard "Dick" Fries

Richard ‘Dick’ Fries, 79, of Jackson Township, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Dick was born on May 20, 1945, in Canton, OH, and was the son of the late Clifford and Helen Fries. Dick was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1964 graduate of Central Catholic High School who went on to graduate from Walsh College. A retiree from Ford Motor Company, Dick was a Vietnam veteran, a loyal brother and friend. Dick was an incredibly hard worker who instilled those qualities in his sons but always found time to enjoy a drive in the car with the windows down singing along to music, golfing and sharing stories with his buddies, working outside in his yard, and caring for his many dogs with his wife, Karen. Above all he was a devoted husband and father.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Fries, sons, Richard (Lynn) Fries, Daniel (Karla) Fries, and Anthony (Anne) Fries. Stepchildren, Jill (Sam) Canata, Lisa Schultz, Stacy (Brad) Turner, Jenny Schultz, Jason Schultz, Josh (Traci) Schultz, and 26 grandchildren whom he loved deeply.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Helen Fries, late wife Susan Fries, brother Joseph Fries, and sisters Margaret Hicks and Theresa Albaugh.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 29, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Road NE, Massillon, OH 44646. A mass service will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11:00am at Saints Philip and James Catholic Church, 412 High Street, Canal Fulton, OH 44614. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter.
