Richard "Whitey" Findley, age 84 passed away on August 16, 2013. He was born in Massillon on November 15, 1928 to the late Vincent and Alida Findley. Richard served his country and retired from the U.S. Army. He worked for Ecko Housewares for more than 20 years until his retirement. Richard sang with his band The Western Playboys for many years appearing on the Gene Carroll Show, winning 1st prize for his rendition of "Elusive Dream' in 1955. In his spare time he loved to ride his motorcycle and spend time with his family and friends. He will forever be remembered as loving brother, uncle, great-uncle and friend. Richard is survived by his nieces and nephews, Robert and Ramona Findley, Vickie (Robert) Zorger, Cathy (Mark) Moore, William Findley, Russell Findley, Michael Daughenbaugh and Norma Seymour; a host of great nieces and nephews; 4 stepbrothers and his good friend Alice. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers Bill, Bob and Vincent Findley. A Celebration of his life will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 12 noon. The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will follow Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial Donations can be made to the Paquelet Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
