Richard C. Janiak

August 23, 1932 — March 10, 2016

Richard C. Janiak, 83, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2016 following an extended illness. He was born in Cleveland on August 23, 1932 to the late Joseph and Bertha Janiak. A veteran of the United States Army, Richard went on to work as a Union Carpenter with Carpenter's Local # 435 of Cleveland. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He enjoyed golfing, remodeling, Cleveland Browns and Indians and traveling around the country side with his Pug. He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Kiernan of Maple Heights, Ronald Creter, Jr of Massillon, Brigetta Marzec of Cross Hill, SC and Carol (Timothy) Sanatore of Massillon; grandchildren, Brandie Creter, Amanda, Justin, Katelyn and Rachael; great-grandchildren, Josh, Colton and Aleanah; a sister, Delores (Norman) King; and his beloved faithful companion, Pixie. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Gail E. (Randolph) Janiak and a brother, Joseph Janiak. Friends may gather at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 9:00am -10.00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial , Celebrated by Fr. Edward Gretchko , Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church and will be held in St Paul's Lutheran Church. Inurnment will follow at 1:00pm in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
