Richard A. "Rocky" Lamp

July 15, 1981 — March 27, 2023

Richard “Rocky” A. Lamp, 41, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 27, 2023. He was born in Columbus, Ohio to Richard P. and Debra (Coontz) Lamp.

Rocky was currently enrolled through Kent State’s online program, and he was very close to finishing his degree in counseling. That was his true calling, helping others in substance abuse and giving them firsthand experiences from his own addiction. His sobriety meant a great deal to him, and he passed that message along to many others in local AA meetings, always believing there was a chance someone would get sober.

He was so passionate about helping others that he created a website called ‘SavingLives330’ which allowed him to share his own personal experiences through poetry. Not only did Rocky write poetry, but he was also a talented musician, writing original songs and even auditioning for ‘American Idol’ when it came to Cleveland.

Rocky had many future ambitions and looked forward to opening his own studio where he could continue to help others through his own podcasts and music.

In addition to being an advocate for recovering addicts, Rocky was also an advocate for the homeless. He made sure no one went through tough times alone and made sure they always had a meal to eat.

Above all, Rocky’s greatest goal in life was to make his family proud and that he did.

He is survived by his loving parents, Rick Lamp and Debby Fagen; siblings Kevin Lamp, Sr., Kristi Lamp, and Michelle Lamp; longtime girlfriend Jaimee Parfitt-Guy; children Ricky Clark and Kiara Bapst; granddaughter Aria Clark; several aunt and uncles; and many nieces and nephews who loved him deeply, especially his niece Makenzie who he shared many fun adventures with, like their trips to haunted houses, IHOP and Apple Bees to name a few.

Rocky was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Lamp, step-father David Fagen, paternal grandparents Jack and Patricia Lamp and maternal grandparents Truman and Louise Coontz and Gaye Hensley, as well as his uncle Neil Coontz and aunt Victoria Lamp.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 6th from 5-7 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home
