Rex F. Hoover, age 89 of Massillon, died on Monday, February 15, 2010 at home. He was born on April 12, 1920 in Euclid, WV and was the son of the late George W. and Rhoda (Arnold) Hoover. He was an area resident since 1951. Rex was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He retired from Republic Steel following 32 years of service. He was a member of the Massillon Baptist Temple but attended Calvary Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson Roger D. Duffield, a grandson Terry A. Smith, a great grandson, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Cora D. (Duffield) Hoover, whom he married on January 6, 1962, his daughter, Sheila J. (Bud) Foreman, his stepdaughters, Mary Sue Duffield and Linda Kay (Robert) McComb, his stepsons, DeWayne (Carla) Duffield and Curtis Dean (Karen) Duffield, 16 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Ernestine (John) Dommer and Edith Gae (Scott) Bailey and his brother James F. (Marcella) Hoover. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Mishler and Rev. Don Snow officiating. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery.
