Raymond "Ray" R. Lutz

Raymond R. Lutz, 82, of Canton, passed away on December 26, 2020. He was born on April 24, 1938 in Canton to the late Raymond J. and Cleta (Tewanger) Lutz. Ray was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law Shirley and James Queen. As a teenager, he was the first newspaper carrier for Aultman Hospital, going to every room to ensure all patients received the paper. Ray was a 1956 graduate of Timken Vocational High School and proudly served in the Naval Reserves as a Yeoman 3rd Class during “The Bay of Pigs”. In his earlier years, he received his real estate license and was a realtor for 25 years. Ray’s career as a printer and purchasing manager for Seiple Lithograph lasted for 49.5 years before retiring. He was very dedicated to serving his community. Ray was the Hall of Fame Committee Original Chairman of the First Play event as well as a Hall of Fame Festival Committee Volunteer for over 30 years. In addition, Ray was a member of the Elks Lodge #2029, the McKinley Eagles, Canton Ex-Newsboys, Floor Shifters Car Club, a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Canton, a Massillon Museum Volunteer for many years and a board member of the HOA. When he wasn’t serving his community, Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and tennis, doing puzzles in the winter and thoroughly enjoyed 4 p.m. Happy Hour. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Beverly (Long) Lutz; daughter and son-in-law Beth and Tony Logozzo and son and daughter-in-law Richard and Laura Lutz; his beloved grandchildren Alyssa (Michael) Zwick, Michelle (Clint) Miller, Jake Logozzo, TJ Logozzo, Krista and Jenna Lutz; and 3 great-grandsons Wyatt and Stockton Zwick and Owen Miller. The family will hold a private memorial service for Ray at a later date and final resting place will be at Forest Hill Cemetery.
