Raymond “Ray” F. Rush, age 62 of Simpsonville, South Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 04, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born in Akron on January 29, 1959 to the late Richard Rush and Marjorie Rush. He was a 1978 graduate of Akron Ellet High School. Ray briefly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a Paramedic and was working as a Perri-Operative Team Technician with Prisma Health Greenville Hospital in South Carolina. Ray was happiest, when traveling with his wife, talking to his children and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and tracing his family history, where he found out he was a direct descendent of Benjamin Rush, who signed the Declaration of Independence. Ray was known for his work ethic, and a being a kind and giving person. He will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Linda; his children Sean (Meagan) Rush and Elizabeth Rush; his step-daughters April Wefler and Eileen (Michael) Druzynski; his sister Robin Blackie; his nephew Russell (Kayla) Blackie; his niece Risa (Adam) Patchin; his great nieces Melody, Lillian Pachin and great-nephew Russell Rian as well as a host of family and friends. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Russell Blackie. A Celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, Ohio and will be livestreamed.
