Raymond P. Marchand, 88, of Jackson Township, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021. Ray was born on October 25, 1932, in Massillon, the son of Raymond and Agnes (Kern) Marchand. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1950 graduate of St. John’s Catholic High School. Ray retired from the Tyson Roller Bearing Company (SKF Industries) after 30 years of service. He was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he volunteered as an usher. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Joseph’s and Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Luncheon Club. Ray was a loyal Massillon Tigers sports fan. He was a 60-year season ticket holder with seats on the “TIG” side. Ray rarely missed a Massillon/McKinley Parade. He was an avid Lake Erie fisherman and was known for his famous fish fries. He was especially proud of teaching his grandchildren to fish. Ray was also a skilled woodworker, and the honorary mayor of the Buckeye Club. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel M. Marchand whom he shared 40 years of marriage before her passing. He is survived by his daughters, Tami R. (Bill) Hahn, and Diane (Stephen) McLain; grandchildren, Christopher McLain, Derek Hahn, Joel McLain, Kyle Hahn, and Noah McLain; sisters, Joanne Sander, and Barbara Crawford (Wes) Seaman; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces, and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
