Ramona “Mona “ Goodnight Elavsky age 72 of Massillon, died Friday in her home after a courageous 2 year battle with breast and liver disease. She was born on February 23, 1934 in Port Washington, OH to the late Rolla and Marjorie (Kelly) Gardner, and lived most of her life in Massillon. She retired from Massillon State Hospital in 1987 following 30 years of service as a LPN. She enjoyed shopping, garage sales, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and traveling. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband Eugene Goodnight, sisters; Shirley Young, Eleanor Neace, Arizona Fisher, Loretta Gardner and her brother Bucky Gardner. Mona is survived by her husband of 21 years, Eugene Elavsky of the home, daughters; Ann (Chris) Goodnight – Heusser of Massillon, Stephanie (Jeff) Goodnight - Berner of Canton, step son, Thomas (Angie) Elavsky of Georgia, step daughters; Patsy Gardiner of Pennsylvania, Nancy Elavsky and Joyce Elavsky both of Massillon, sisters; Carol and Bonnie Gardner both of Massillon, brothers; Jack Gardner of Millersburg, Bob Gardner of Coshocton and Gary Gardner of Massillon and 11 Grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Remembering her West Virginia Family, her annual garage sale customers and her special feline, Lucy. Funeral services celebrating Ramona’s life will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Arnold – Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon with Captain Tawney Cowan - Zanders, officiating. Family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Tuesday and 1 hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Interment will follow the services at Brookfield Cemetery.
