Ralph C. Swisher

Ralph C. “Swish” Swisher, age 79 of Canton, died Monday, May 14, 2007 at the Hospitality House in Perry Township. He was born on November 8, 1927 in Massillon and was the son of the late Wilson & Grace (Schultz) Swisher. He was a lifelong area resident. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Army. Swish had worked at Griscom-Russell until they closed and then was employed as a bartender at several area restaurants. He was an avid golfer and was selected for the Canton Old-Timers Baseball Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Amvets Post 1234 in Dover, Ohio. He is survived by his daughter Connie Oberlin of Massillon, Ohio, his grandson Todd Oberlin of Perry Township, his sisters, Winifred Langfeld of Clinton, OH and Dorothy Long of Massillon and his special friend Jeannie Downerd of Perry Township. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Wilburt Swisher. There are no calling hours or services. His cremated remains will be buried at Brookfield Cemetery.
