Phyllis Y. Dorsey

Phyllis Y. Dorsey, 81, of Massillon, OH passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024 at her residence surrounded by family. Phyllis was born on March 20, 1943 in Dennison, OH the daughter of the late Oscar and Norene (Walker) Hughes.

Phyllis was a lifelong resident of the area. She was employed at Indian River School where she worked as a clerk and retired following 20 years of service. Her family came first. She would baby sit her grandchildren any time it was needed. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her and her husband, Fred enjoyed traveling to see family. Prior to joining Shiloh Baptist Church, she was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist. As a member of Shiloh Baptist Church she was the Past President Pastor's Aide and a member of the Book Club. She enjoyed music, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. In her earlier years, she was also a Cub Scout leader.

She is survived by her loving husband, Fred "Bruce" Dorsey with whom she shared 23 years of marriage; children, Natalie Lowery, Bruce Lowery, Frank Lowery, and Chris (Jada) Lowery; 17 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Lowery, and sister Doris Jean Pep.

The family will receive friends from 10:30am - 11:30am on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon, with a Home Going Celebration to start at 11:30am , Rev. Anthony Robinson officiating.
