Phyllis Rae Kent, 90, passed away early Sunday morning, April 28, 2013, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was born near Bucyrus, Ohio, on August 6, 1922, to Edith and Raymond Oberlander. She was the Valedictorian of the 1940 Mt. Zion High School graduation class, and later graduated from Tiffin University. Phyllis married Dale G. Kent in May, 1943. They enjoyed nearly 63 years of marriage while farming and raising their family. In addition, Phyllis also worked as a bookkeeper in the business office of Producers Livestock Associates. Phyllis was a lifetime member of Bucyrus Epworth Methodist Church and also the Farm Bureau Council, Family Study Club, Mt. Zion Grange, and the Women's Moose. After her husband's death in 2006, and moving to North Canton to be near her daughter, she joined Reedurban Presbyterian Church where she received a very warm welcome. She enjoyed serving as an elder and attending Autumn Leaves Bible Study, and Sunday services. An avid reader, she also enjoyed knitting and spending time with her beloved friends and family. Phyllis is survived by her sister, Joyce (Dwight) Norris of Tiro, and children Jerry Kent of Massillon, Nancy (Fred) Tobin of North Canton, and Craig (Deborah) Kent of Westerville, Ohio. Her grandchildren include Eric Kent, Aaron (Teresa) Kent, Zachary (Kara) Kent, Bethany (Brian) Minich, and Bryce Tobin. Great-grandchildren are Alex Dumm and Bria Minich. She was a kind, loving, caring, and giving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Friday, May 3, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Darrell Holmes officiating.
