Phillip “Phil” E. Mason, age 80 of Navarre passed away on April 08, 2019. He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia on August 02, 1938 to the late Homer and Una Mason. He was a 1956 graduate of Washington High School. Phil served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959. He served as Police Officer for the Village of Navarre for 30 years until his retirement. He was an avid motorcyclist, gun collector, scuba diver and taught driving. Phil had a Pilot’s license and also flew remote control airplanes. In his long law enforcement career, Phil received many commendations for going above and beyond his duty to serve the community. He was active with the D.A.R.E program. He leaves to cherish his memory his children Penny E. (Tom) Mason, Holly J. (Sam) Wilsey, Kelly (John) Orlando, Chip (Ottie) P. Hosler, Shelly (Jason) K. Lewis and Jon Mason; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his brother Lewis Donovan Mason and his sister Frances Mason. A Celebration of Phil’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 7 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5p.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
