Philip J. Fox, age 74 passed away on, December 21, 2012, after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Phil was born in Chicago, IL on July 22, 1938, the son of the late Gailard and Virginia (Fergus) Fox. He was a 1956 graduate of Garfield High School in Akron. Phil married the former Helen Bonin on July 23, 1960 and they shared 52 wonderful years together. Phil started in surveying and moved into sales. He was the owner of Beiner-Fox Insurance Agency and in 1988 merged with AA Hammersmith Insurance and retired in 2000. One of Phil's great passions was the game of Golf and took great pride in having 5 Double Eagles. He was a member of the Independent Insurance Agents, in which he hosted a golf tournament for young golfers for many years. His other interests included, fishing, coaching, playing cards with his family and friends and helped in getting the midget football league started through The Massillon Boys Club. He was a longtime parishioner at St. Barbara's serving in the Men's Club, was a former member the Elks, Fraternal Order of Eagles, The Noon Optimist Club and the Amvets. Phil will be remembered as a Loving, husband, dad, grampa, great-grampa, brother and friend, who will be missed by all, but never forgotten. He is survived by his wife, Helen; his children Jeff (Suzie) Fox of Tumwater, WA, Teresa (Bob) Lowers and Paul Fox of Massillon; his grandchildren, Tiffany(Josh) Brazen, Ryan Lowers, Bridget and Samantha Fox; 1 great-grandchild, Eliana Brazen; 1 sister Noreen Fox; and 2 brothers Tom (Barb) Fox and Bob Fox, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, John Fox and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Sue Henry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Barbara's Catholic Church on Monday, December 24, 2012 at 10 A.M., Fr. Thomas Cebula officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon on Sunday, December 23, 2012. Phil will be cremated and burial will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff of Rose Lane Healthcare Center and Crossroads Hospice for the exceptional care they gave Phil.
