Philip G. Elbert, Jr.

Philip G. Elbert, Jr., age 56 of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Affinity Medical Center in Massillon. He was born on November 17, 1951 in Martins Ferry, OH and was the son of the late Philip G. Sr. and Sarah Lucille Elbert. Philip was a 1971 graduate of Rio Linda High School in California. He was employed by Timken Co. for 18 yrs. before retiring in 1991. He was a member of Massillon Baptist Temple and enjoyed Southern Gospel Music. Philip was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan. He loved fishing, baseball and his beloved Massillon Tigers, but especially he loved his granddaughters. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert D. Elbert, Sr., Alice Belle Davies Elbert, and Frances Dayton. He is survived by his wife of 35 years of marriage, Linda K. (Rowe) Elbert, his children and their spouses; Philip Lee (Dawn) Elbert, Sean Michael (Joella) Elbert and Eric Charles Elbert all of Massillon, his granddaughters; Bethany, Kimberly, Sarah, Leah, Genoa and Alexis; his siblings; Randy Elbert of Massillon, Linda Biehl of Cookson, OK, Debbie Gilmer of Wichita, KS, Richard Elbert of Massillon and John (Helen) Elbert of Clarksburg, WV and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6-8P.M. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday. His brother, Rev. John Elbert will be Officiating.
