Peter McGinnis age 58 of Massillon went to the ‘Big Easy’ Sunday May 18, 2008. Pete was born November 26, 1949 to the late Daniel & Martha (Brogdon) McGinnis and was a 1969 graduate of Washington High School. For the past 38 years he was employed at Crown Cork & Seal (formerly Central States Can). Pete was a quiet man who loved his grandchildren, music, motorcycles and New Orleans. He has the distinction of donating 10 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. His famous ‘Fat Tuesday’ parties featuring Muffulettas, Red Beans & Rice and Hurricanes will be missed by all. The tradition will continue. “So long and thanks for all the fish.” He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Stephanie (Niezgoda) McGinnis; two children, Allen & Melanie McGinnis of Massillon and Erin McGinnis of Monclova, OH; three grandchildren, Autumn, Miranda and Daniel. In addition there are three sisters and a brother; Maureen (Donald) Zorger, Bridget DeHoff, Kevin McGinnis and Mary (Tom) Robertson. He has eight sisters and brothers in laws: Teri Dew, Niki (Richard) Green, Duke (Vickie) Niezgoda, Sheila (Ron) Oakes, Von Niezgoda, Dr. Julie (Steve Toth) Niezgoda, Frank (Kathy) Niezgoda and Mark (Rose) Niezgoda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, his pastor Fr. Raymond Paul will officiate. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Pete gave the gift of sight by his eye donation. Messages of support and sympathy can be sent to www.paquelet.com.
