Peter A. Venet

Peter Venet, age 86 of Massillon, died on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Rose Lane Health Care Center. He was born on March 18, 1926 in Johnstown, PA and was the son of the late John and Cosima (Piazza) Venet. Following his high school graduation, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served with the 2nd Infantry during World War II. He then went on to earn his Bachelor's degree at the University of Pittsburgh. Pete was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son James Venet, 5 sisters and 3 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosalie (Serio) Venet, his son, Ted (Gloria) Venet, his grandchildren, Michael (Jen) Venet, Jennifer (Tim) Sieber, Deborah (Jon) Koral and Suzanne (Bruce) Pietz. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Nathan, Laura, Timmy, Bailee, Abigail and Martin, his brother Samuel Venet and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The family would like to thank their neighbor Pam Snyder, John Scribner, and the staff at Rose Lane Health Care Center for their care and kindness.
