Pearl R. Gillom

Pearl R. Gillom, age 90 of Massillon, went home to the lord on Monday, March 26, 2007 at the Affinity Medical Center Massillon Campus. She was born in Woodland, Alabama in February 28, 1917 to the late Troy & Ada (Lancaster) Joiner. In 1937 Pearl met the love of her life, Odell Douglas Gillom. They joined hands in marriage in May 8, 1942. Pearl was a hard working woman who took pride in her work. She also loved to nurture her children & grandchildren. She was affectionately known as Big Mom. She was actively involved with the church & the keep moving club. She loved to read her bible, cooking & feeding everyone. Pearl always enjoyed listening to gospel music & prayer while at Meadow Wind. She will always be remembered with beautiful flowers & a smile on her face. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Connie Gillom, one brother, David Gillom, one sister, Eunice Fouse & a great granddaughter, Mariah Gillom. Survived by a daughter, Beverly (Gillom) Grier of Massillon; 2 sons Ronnie & Chun Gillom of Colorado, and Robert & Tammie of Colorado; 2 sisters Lillian Johnson of Massillon, Eulette & Chat Arrington of Massillon and a Brother, Henry & Lucille Joiner of Massillon. There are 12 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. There will be a Homegoing Service on Monday at noon at St. James AME Zion Church. Friends may call from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. Rev. Lewis will officiate. Burial will take place at Massillon Cemetery.
