Pauline Willie Franklin

Pauline Willie Franklin, age 90 of Massillon, departed this life on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. She was born September 24, 1925 in Crenshaw County, Ala. The second oldest girl born to Thomas & Mary (Gunter) Russell, she moved to Massillon as a child. She lived and enjoyed most of her life in Massillon, staying the last several years with her daughter in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Massillon City Schools graduating from Washington High School in 1943 where she met and married her high school sweetheart Willie J. Franklin in 1943. They were married for 50 years; he preceded her in death in 1993. Always active in the home, she enjoyed caring for her family, gardening, cooking, and caring for her animals (chickens, dogs, and ducks). She spent her early years as a health care aide, leaving this position to become a full time mother. She was a devoted member of both St. Paul's Church of God in Christ and later Morningstar United Holy Church; she was a dedicated Christian and enjoyed serving her God and church and never tired of learning and understanding more of the Bible. Although physical restrictions limited her ability to participate physically, she continued to expand her biblical understanding and knowledge through listening, reading, and watching ministers like G.E. Patterson and others. Surviving her are her sons, Walter Franklin of Woodland Hills, CA; Maurice and Dennis Franklin of Los Angeles, CA and a daughter Lydia Glaude of Cleveland; one brother, Walter Russell of Massillon, two sisters, Viola Williams of Cleveland, and Inez Allen of Massillon. She was known as 'Grandma I Know' to many of her five grandchildren. She was also blessed with two great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren, one of which is due to be born this month. She was also blessed with many loving friends and acquaintances; she will sorely be missed. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Morningstar United Holy Church with Elder Michael Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
