Paul R. Bracken, 86, of Perry Township, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Paul was born on August 2, 1937 in Akron, OH; son of the late Paul Bracken and Marguerite (Ledger) Mackey.
Paul was a graduate of Canton Lincoln High School and received his Associate Degree in Fire Science from Stark State. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Germany. After 30 years of service, he retired from the Timken Company as a security officer. Paul enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. He was a ham radio operator and a member of ARRL. He was a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was also very proud to have received his private pilot's license and enjoyed numerous trips to Oshkosh, WI for the EAA Airventure. Paul enjoyed many camping and boating trips with his family and friends over the years. He was an avid reader, but most of all, he enjoyed the time he shared with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue, with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on September 12th; children Dawn (Tim) Scott, Tim (Christy) Bracken, and Kerri Leon; grandchildren, Steven (Emily) Scott, Briley (Josh) Blackiston, Josiah Bracken, Kent Bracken, Mackenzie Scott, Taylor Necko, Micah Bracken, Noah Bracken, Nicholas Leon, Jarret Bracken, Jenna Necko, Leighah Bracken, and Brenna Leon; siblings, Debbie (Scott) Savage, Jim (Paula) Bracken, Donna (David) Froelich, Bill (Linda) Bracken, Becky (Tim) Baum, and Cindy Render; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Bracken, and sister, Michelle McKnight.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aultman Hospital and Aultman Home Health Care for their compassion and care.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon from 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Friday at 9 am. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Canton Lincoln High School Alumni Association: P.O. Box 20192, Canton, OH 44701.
