Paul A. "Andy" Esway

July 9, 1941 — November 1, 2022

Paul A. "Andy" Esway, age 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, in the presence of his loved ones. He was born July 9, 1941, in Akron, Ohio to Andy and Dorothy (Shonk) Esway.

He graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1959.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Tom Esway.

He is survived by his wife Nancy (Tunning) Esway, of 60 years. They have three children, Barbara Esway of Columbus, Paula (Rod) Digman of Massillon, and Bryan Esway of Phoenix, AZ. There are 6 grandchildren, 7 g-grandchildren, and 5 gg-grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 sisters, Madalyn (Bob) Hahn, Nora (Bob) Wilson, and 2 brothers, Clarence Esway of FL, and Mark (Sue) Esway.

Andy worked at Superior’s Brand Meats for 23 years. He regularly attended the Teamsters Local 92 Employee Retiree Breakfast and was a Pension Warrior for the NUCPP. He finally retired from The City of Massillon, Park Department after 17 years.

Andy enjoyed life, experiencing the simple things. He was a lover of nature, loved the outdoors, whether it was camping, fishing, wood carving at the Perry Library or throwing boomerangs, participating in the tournaments in Washington, D.C. He also helped with the K of C gun shows. And was a member of NRA, Stark Gun Collector’s, and Stark County Federation of Conservation Clubs.

He helped with the Steak and Clam Dinners at the Oaks, K of C fund raisers, and at the Massillon Senior Center special occasions dinners and Santa’s Breakfast. He enjoyed attending the Massillon Museum History Group every month.

He also helped with the kids annual fishing derbies in Canal Fulton, at Lock 4 and at Petros lake. Then there were the garage sales every year in Navarre to earn money for the Muskingum Trail Sportsman’s Club activities, which Andy was the Secretary for many years.

There will be no service. His final resting place is at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank all of those who helped with Andy’s care, especially Traditions Hospice for their excellent service.
