(Pat Ball pictured with her beloved husband, Melvin and their dog, Coco.) Patricia A. Ball, age 72, of Canton passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, May 26, 2011. Pat was a lifelong resident of Canton and was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Rinkes) Pyles. She was retired from the Timken Company and H&R Block. For a lifetime, Pat poured her heart and soul into cooking and caring for her husband, her family and friends, and several very special four-legged critters. In addition to her mother, Pat was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Ball; her daughters Annette Heiser and Margaret (Peggy Sue) Taylor; her sister Jane Kimble; and her sister-in-law Janis Shreffler. Pat is survived by her sons Dean Ball, Ed (Angela) Ball, and Michael (Debbie) Ball; her adopted children Ross and Dawn Gibson; her brothers Paul Few, Dale Pyles, Rick Pyles, Donald Pyles, and Keith Pyles; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends, including Bob and Karen Schoeppner and Ella Johnson. Pat was blessed to be cared for by Mike and Debbie Ball, Dawn Gibson, Dean Ball, and Crossroads Hospice during her final months and hours. Pat’s family, her friends, and everyone who ever tasted her chicken and dumplings, her potato salad, or her Texas sheet cake will miss her and her cooking dearly. Pat’s funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Family and friends may call on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral service.
