Pansy R. Gayheart, 92, of Massillon, passed away at her home on February 17, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Benton, Illinois on June 19, 1929 to the late Cecil and Burlie (Hedges) Thomason. She worked many years for the former Ekco Housewares but retired as a crossing guard for Massillon City Schools which she really enjoyed doing. Pansy also attended Massillon Baptist Temple. She will be remembered for her love of Elvis, her beloved Massillon Tigers and sitting on her front porch enjoying the simple things in life. She was also infamous for her two sayings throughout life, “Easy Come, Easy Go” and “Been there, done that”. Pansy was the matriarch of her family and really loved the company around her. The best thing she gave to her family was her time and many memories and traditions made over the years. She is survived by her children Danny Gayheart, Myra (Chuck) Agnes, Dennis (Mary) Gayheart, DeeAnna (Steve) Steed, Terry Gayheart, Fred (Lisa) Gayheart, Jr., Mark (Michelle) Gayheart; daughter-in-law Sharon Gayheart; 31 grandchildren; over 40 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; her sister Donna (Tom); as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Pansy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Fred Gayheart , her son Rick Gayheart, daughter-in-law Nina Gayheart, sisters Glenna and Francis and her brothers Dallas and Charlie. The family would like to give special thanks to Timken Hospice Care, as well as Cookie, Dee and Danny for all the years of care for Pansy especially her beloved nieces Beth Boyd and LaDonna McCleary. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 21st from 4-7 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and burial will follow at Mt. Peace Cemetery in Hartville.
