Oren Andrew Bud Irvin succumbed at his residence after a long battle with cancer on May 17, 2006. Bud was born July 16, 1925 in Beloit, OH to the late Reuben A. & Lillie (Lambright) Irvin. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family members. Bud will be remembered as a loving husband; father, and grandfather; along with his quick wit, easy smiles and openness to others. He served in the South Pacific during World War II as an Aviation Ordinanceman Second-Class in the United States Navy, receiving the Pacific Area Campaign Metal, American Area Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Metal, Aircrew Insignia, and served in both aircraft gunnery and radar positions. After his time in the service he worked as a machine-crane operator at Babcock and Wilcox of Alliance, Ohio until his retirement in 1986 .Oren was a current member of St Paul's Lutheran Church of Massillon, where he has served as a Council member and the former Evangelism committee chairman. He was also a past member, treasurer and board member of the Sebring First Church of the Nazarene; and past member and board member of Sebring Holiness Camp in Sebring, Ohio. He enjoyed fishing, coin collecting; metal detecting; exploring back-away places of the Unites States; as well as wood working projects, which many friends and family members will enjoy his created pieces for generations to come. He was preceded in death by his first wife of forty-nine years, Mary Louise Irvin, his two sons William Edward and Timothy Wayne; a granddaughter Lona Lea Irvin; as well as two sisters Martha Moschgat of Sebring, and Mary Groves of Alliance. He is survived by his wife Florence Irvin of Massillon, a sister Francis French of Salem; four daughters Ella Evers (Don) of Alliance; Ruth Ledbetter (Larry) of Denison, Texas; Karen Stephens of Piano, Texas; and Kathy Wilson (Kenny) of Rootstown. Three stepchildren Jennie Lambert (William) of St. Clairsville, Robert Bush (Luci) of Indonesia; and Raymond Bush (Cindy) of Massillon, as well as 23 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Calling hours will be at the Paquelet Funeral Home located at 1100 Wales Road, N.E. Massillon, today from 5 to 8 PM. and one hour prior the funeral service to be held at 11:00 AM in St. Paul's Lutheran Church on May 20th located at 127 Cherry Rd N E, Massillon, Ohio The family has requested that in lieu of flowers please send donations to the Bud Irvin Memorial Fund at St. Paul's or the American Cancer Society.
