Opal V. Mungo, 87 of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday, November 03, 2010 at Affinity Medical Center. She was born on June 10, 1923 in Cairo, WV and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Iva Mae Dunn. Opal was employed as a secretary at the former Massillon City Hospital School of Nursing. She retired in 1986. She was a long time volunteer at Affinity Hospital, attended Central Presbyterian Church and was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed being in the company of her family and friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Mungo in 1997, her brothers, Howard, Okey and Larry Dunn and her sister Fern. She is survived by her children, Sherry White of Broadview Hts, OH, Thomas A. (Marilyn) Mungo of Orlando, FL and JoAnn Mungo of Massillon, her grandchildren, Meredith (Dr. Thomas P.) White Pittelkow, Thomas J. Mungo and Erin A. Mungo and her great grandson, Phoenix Mungo. A service to celebrate the life of Opal V. Mungo will take place on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Lalama officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday one hour before the service at the funeral home.
