Norman Edward Steed

Norman “Stormin’ Norman” Edward Steed, 88, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, February 11, 2021, at his home. Norman was born on August 19, 1932, son of the late Harry and Edith Steed. He graduated from Washington High School in 1951 and proudly served our country in the Air Force where he was awarded 2 medals. He worked for Republic Steel for 33 years. He married Phyllis Sellers in February 1954. Norman enjoyed fishing, camping, Ohio State and Massillon Tiger Football and doing puzzles. He was well known for his “Dad” jokes. He is predeceased by his brothers and their spouses, Donald and June, William and Faye, infant son, and grandson, Corey Stone. He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his loving wife of 67 years, Phyllis A. Steed, siblings, Howard Steed of California, Suzanne (Bill) Stocker of Orrville, Ohio, and Connie (Earl) Bruegger of Massillon, Ohio, children, Steven (DeeAnna) Steed, Nancy (Carl Kleinhenz) Steed, Jeffery (Deborah) Steed, Becky Steed, Timothy Steed, Vickie (Bill) Lawrence, 13 adoring grandchildren, Josh (Amanda Hill) Steed, Dakota (Celia Hubert) Steed, Rachel Steed, Matthew (Amanda) Steed, Monica Stone, Genevieve Steed, Rachael (Matthew) Giltz, Samantha (Xavier Mikstay) Barboza, Alysse Steed, Neo Steed, Erika (Chris) Cheyney, Cody (Amanda) Lawrence, Kyrie (Derek Barr) Lawrence, great grandchildren, Claire Steed, Carson Stone, Christian and Gabriella Giltz, Hannah, Elliott, Madelyn Brody, Bryce and Carly Paoletto, Kegan Lawrence, Travonte and Promise Jackson. A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SAM Center at: https://www.servingareamilitary.com/. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the VA, Mercy Hospice and Palliative Care Center for their support in his final days. Continuing with COVID-19 precautions, all attending will be asked to follow proper social distancing protocol and masks are required.
