Naomi Saylor Murphy

Heaven opened its gates to welcome it’s newest angel, Naomi Saylor Murphy to be with her Lord. She got her wings on Mother’s Day, May 08, 2022 and now walks with the angels. She was just shy of her 100th birthday. Born to Mary and Emery Saylor in North Canton, Ohio on June 27, 1922. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence “Murph”; daughters Molly and Peggy; sons Pat and Casey and grandson and great-grandson. She is survived by daughters, Terry Murphy, Mickey (Bob) Nau, Colleen (Larry) Handwork; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren and many grand dogs and cats that adore her. Naomi and Murph were married September 26, 1942 in Biloxi, Mississippi, where Murph was stationed with the U.S. Army Air Corps and heading back to fight in World War II. They raised 7 children, who they loved dearly. Murph passed away at 53 years old in 1970 and Naomi raised the youngest 4 on her own. She was the matriarch of the family and was genuinely loved and admired by everyone that knew her. She was the last living sibling in a family of 9. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She always had a positive attitude and a strong faith and was a wicked Rummy card shark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon with Father Raymond Paul officiating. Calling hours will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 4-7p.m. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
