Nancy L. Whitaker

July 8, 1941 — May 29, 2024

Nancy L. Whitaker, of Perry Township, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, at the age of 82.

She was born July 8, 1941, to the late Marjorie L. and Ted A. Kinney. She was in the first graduating class of Perry High School with the class of 1959. Her college degree came from Heidelberg in 1963. She taught for 33 years at what was then Edison Junior High (retired in 1996). Nancy was a woman of faith who loved life. She cared deeply for others, and she liked to make use of her unusual sense of humor. She treasured her family and friends.

Nancy enjoyed volunteering at Mercy Hospital, reading, dining out, bird watching, church and spending time with Larry. Before Larry's death in 2019, they celebrated 55 years together. Although they had no children of their own, they were blessed by a very large extended family, including nieces, nephews, godchildren, and others. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law (Sue and David Klekner) and stepbrother-in-law, Don Price. Survivors include her sister, Sandra Gravius, brothers-in-law, Rodney (Donna) Whitaker and Jack (Linda) Whitaker.

A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on June 3, 2024 at 12pm at Paquelet Funeral Home. Lisa Machar will be officiating, with burial to follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on June 3, 2024 from 10am to 12pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, a charity of one's choice, or pay it forward with a random act of kindness. Nancy thanks all who cared for her throughout her life, including family, friends, and medical people. Her family would like to thank Amherst Meadows and Crossroads Hospice at the end of her life.
