Nancy J. Helline

September 13, 1929 — April 2, 2023

Nancy Jane (Keffler) Helline, age 93, died peacefully at home in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 2, in Massillon. Nancy was born on September 13, 1929, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Frank and Cecilia Keffler. She enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage to her late husband, Edward J. Helline II, and was very much devoted to her seven children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Many lovingly knew her as “Mom,” “Grandma” and “Nan.”

Nancy is survived by her children, Edward J. Helline III of Breckenridge, Colo., Mary K. Helline of Louisville, Ky., Michael F. (Denise) Helline of Louisville, Ky., Judy A. Zugg of Long Beach, Miss., Jane M. Helline of Olmsted Falls, Ohio and Susan A. (Tim) Dantin of Olmsted Falls, Ohio; her seven grandchildren James D. (Zena) Zugg, William E. (Megan) Zugg, Matthew F. Helline, Timothy R. Dantin, Christopher R. Dantin, Meredith Helline (Evan) Denari and Collin E. Helline; and five great-grandchildren. She’s preceded in death by her husband; son, Frank J. Helline; infant daughter, Ann Marie; son-in-law, James D. Zugg; and her brothers Jack, Richard and James Keffler.

Family reunions for more than three decades at Lake Cumberland are some of the fondest memories the extended Keffler and Helline families have made over the years. Nancy loved a good laugh, family meals, her four o'clock bourbon and old Western television shows. As we lay her to rest, we are reminded by one of her favorite phrases, “God bless you, and we’ll see you when we see you.”

Nancy was a long-standing member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 206 Cherry Avenue NE. Burial will immediately follow the service at Calvary Cemetery. The family thanks Compassionate Care Hospice for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the hospice team c/o Amedisys Foundation, 3854 American Way, STE A, Baton Rouge, LA, 70816, or to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
