Nancy J. Halter

Nancy J. Halter, 82, of Massillon, passed away on May 30, 2022, following a brief illness. She was born on March 28, 1940 to the late Elmer and Helene (Nolan) Ertle in Massillon. Nancy graduated from Central Catholic High School. She owned and operated Halter's Party Line. Upon closing the store she went on to work for Demmer Hardware, Stark Cooling and Heating, Massillon Chamber of Commerce and finally retiring from the Massillon Club. She was a long time Council Woman both Ward 2 and at Large. During her time with the city, she was the founder of Fourth of July Picnic in the Park and was Events Director of the North/South Football Classic along with many other committees and events. Nancy is survived by her loving children, Martin C. (Lori) Halter and Ted A. Halter; grandchildren, Dylan C. (Megan) Halter and London A. (Seth) Turczynski, great-grandchildren, Luke, Raelynn and Jonathon; sister-in-law, Joan M. Halter; and special friend, Brayli V. Grant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald L. Halter; and son, John W. Halter. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2022, 4:00 pm - 8:00pm at Paquelet Funeral Home, Massillon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022, 10:00 am at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Massillon celebrated by Fr. Raymond Paul. Burial will follow in St Joseph Cemetery.
