Myron V. ‘Steve’ Owens, age 79 of Navarre passed away Saturday at Affinity Medical Center after a short illness. Steve was born August 4, 1929 in Navarre to the late David & Nellie (Miller) Owens. He served in the Army during the Korea War and received an honorable discharge. He started his career with the Nickelplate Rail Road and retired as a conductor with the Norfolk & Western Rail Road after 33 years. Steve will be remembered as a caring person who took his time to help family, friends and strangers alike. His grandchildren were loved and spoiled by him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Mary Lou Owens (1986), a son in law Terry Hollinger (1997) and many sisters and brothers. He is survived by three children and spouses: Tina Hollinger of Jackson Twp., Ralph & Kimberly Owens of Massillon and Rick & Rony Owens of Brewster, a step-daughter Patricia Taylor of California, a sister Florence Winkhart of Navarre, ten grandchildren and great granddaughter London Radach. He has a special friend and companion, Betty McCartney of Navarre. Funeral service for Steve will be 11 AM Tuesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon; the Rev. Joe Wright will officiate.
