Miriam June Steed

Miriam June Steed, 84, of, Canton, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Landings of Canton. June was born June 10, 1932 in Massillon, Ohio to the late Calvert L. and Ethel E. (Cook) Bettilyon. June married Donald Steed on June 27, 1953. He passed away on July 20, 2007. She attended and graduated with the 1949 class at Washington High School. June was employed for a few early years by Massillon Steel Casting and later by the Eastern Ohio Association of the United Church of Christ District Office. She was also a member of the Grace United Church of Christ where she served on consistory, served as a deacon, elder and sang in the choir. June favorite hobbies included fishing, bowling, gardening and especially spending time with her family. June will be deeply missed by her sons, Douglas (Janet) Steed of Warsaw and Dane (Linda) Steed of Canton; grandchildren, Brandon, Josh, Renee, Tom, Tina, and Tammy; 11 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. June was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Don, sister Ruth and brother, Don. Visitation will be Saturday, December 31, 2016 from 12-1 pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The service will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Clippinger officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Burial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Grace United Church of Christ. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at the Landing in Canton and the Hospice staff for their care and compassion during June's stay.
