Miriam C. Vogt, age 90 of Massillon, died on Friday, August 20, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on February 11, 1920 in Akron, Ohio and was the daughter of Clarence and Bessie (Sweitzer) Pitts. Much of her life was devoted to raising her family. She also worked at the family business, the Pitt’s Grocery Store and Tyson Roller Bearing. Miriam graduated from Washington High School in 1938. She will be remembered as the family photographer and for her love of sewing and making hats. She was a dedicated member of First Church of Christ Scientist. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph F. Vogt and her brothers, Clarence “Jug” Pitts, Forrest Pitts and John Pitts. She is survived by her sons, Gary D. (Cathy) Vogt and Blaine E. Vogt both of Massillon, her granddaughter, Kristi Vogt and her step grandson Matthew Martin. Miriam Vogt’s life will be celebrated at a service on Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. with at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with Carol Warstler officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12- 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
