Mildred U. Smith, 82, formerly of Massillon, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the Homewood Residence at Richmond Heights Care Center following an extended illness. She was born in East Sparta on October 3, 1930 to the late Edward and Mildred (Gard) Meyer. Mildred was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and had retired from Canton Glove in 1993. She is survived by her children, Cyndi (Loyde) Wheeler of Spokane, WA, Jan (Dave) Schubert of Willoughby Hills and a step-daughter, Barbara (Ted) Miller of Massillon, Eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, four sisters, Naomi Law of East Sparta, Ruth Angelo of Strasburg, Jean Stokes of Cleveland and Shirley Kuhns of East Sparta, and two brothers, Edward Meyer of Canton and Robert Meyer of IN. In addition to her parents, Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Arlan Smith, two sisters, Virginia Foraker and Dorothy Ready, a brother Donald Meyer and a step-daughter, Lorna Crabb. Friends may call at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 6:00PM-8:00PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 10:30 AM in the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
