Mildred Louise Turpin, 72 of Stockbridge Georgia, formerly of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Mildred was born on May 7, 1945 in Massillon, the daughter of the late Moses and Birdine (Gilmer) Oliver. Mildred attended school in Massillon and graduated from Washington High School in 1963. She sang in the school choir and was in several activities. She confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was active in Sunday School, choir and other groups. She was married to the late Vincent Turpin II and two children were born to this union. Mildred touched the lives of many people in many states. She taught school for many years in Georgia upon retiring from teaching she became a loving and patient care giver. She was a member of Oakpark Church in Stockbridge, Georgia. Mildred had many close friends with a loving church family in Georgia. She was very active in her church. Mildred was also a Red Hatter and she loved cooking and shopping. She lived in California where she obtained her teaching degree. She is survived by her sons, Vincent Turpin III and Vance Turpin; grandchildren, Jonathan, Jared, Kendra, Moses and Victorious Turpin; sisters, Liley Kelly and Geraldine (Midloskia) Fite, Sr.; brothers, Robert (Carolyn) Oliver and Kenneth Oliver; and a host of nieces and nephews. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
