Mildred I. Roop

Mildred I. Roop, age 86 of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2011, at Amherst Meadows. Mildred was born April 9, 1925 in Akron to the late Phillip & Regina (Mielke) Skinner. She attended Kenmore High School and was employed at the former Hahn Drug where she met her husband, Kenneth Roop and they married September 20, 1947. In 1976 they moved to Massillon. Mildred was a giving individual and was known for making the very best Christmas cookies. She lived her faith and shared her humor and love. Her husband of 62 years Kenneth passed away June 2, 2009, in addition to her parents she was predeceased by two brothers, William & Joseph Skinner and a sister, Margaret Pope. Mildred is survived by a daughter Linda Roop; granddaughter, Heather (Ossian) Field; grandson, John (Allison) Polonye; two great grandchildren, Adalynn & Victoria; sister, Geraldine Davis and a sister-in-law, Barbara Skinner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Akron.
