Michael Perez

Michael Perez, age 96, a longtime resident of Massillon, passed away on January 2, 2019. He was preceded in death by parents Erasmo and Balbina; wife of 63 years, Janet; and siblings Mary, Josephine, and Raymond. He was a 1940 graduate of Washington High School and served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After graduation from Kent State he began employment with John Hancock Insurance, retiring in 1982. Mike is survived by his children Tod (Char), Joy, Ray (Jael); 6 grandchildren Mike (Rosy), Amy (Jason), Abbey (Adam), Rayanne (Kenny), Chris, and Dion. Also, 10 great-grandchildren, Alan, Nicole, Gabby, Anthony, Madison, Hadley, Andrew, Hunter, Kane, and Hank. Mike was a sports fan, rooting always for Massillon football, Ohio State, and the Browns. He was an avid reader and enjoyed completing a daily crossword puzzle. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 7, from 6-8pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 10am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Massillon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph’s Soup Kitchen.
