Michael M. Schmidt, 79 of Perry Twp. Passed away Sunday, May 20th 2018. Born December 29, 1938 to Michael Sieverth Schmidt and Mable Mills Schmidt. Mike was raised in Canton, a Lincoln HS Grad 1957 and continued education at Malone College following his service with the US Air Force as Crew Chief Mechanic on active duty during the Cuban Crisis. Mike started his career in Real Estate as a Broker/Manager with his own agency, Schmidt Realty, following in his father’s footsteps for 53 years. He took on the Century 21 Franchise and was involved in the development of several housing communities in our area including Wilkshire Hills in Bolivar. Mike was chosen by the Dept. of HUD to manage HUD properties for 20 years in nine counties. In 1992 he merged his company with T.K. Harris as V. P. of Sales for the Coldwell Banker Residential Sales Division. He later managed for Cutler Real Estate after a merger with T.K. Harris Residential Sales until retirement from management in 2006. Most recently Mike worked along side his wife Susan, his soul mate, selling real estate with Keller Williams Legacy Group Realty. Mike served as President 1981 with Stark County Association of Realtors and was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 and Realtor Emeritus. He will be known by many as a man of integrity, great knowledge and a great influence to all who knew him. Besides his career Mike was a member of the Greater Canton Men’s Chorus for several years and performed at the Kennedy Center and The National Cathedral in Washington DC. He is preceded in death by his parents, baby girl Diane, sister Katherine Knauff, nephew Kenneth Knauff. Survivors are his wife, Susan (Fisher), son David, step-daughters Gretchen (Frank) Falcone and Heidi Harris, sister Celeste (Eugene) Krejsa, 5 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and a great granddaughter. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7 pm at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. The funeral will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Saturday at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home & Crematory 330-833-4839
