Michael M. Palumbo

Michael M. Palumbo, age 81, of Massillon, passed away, Tuesday, October 14, 2008 after an extended illness. Michael was born May 12, 1927 in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of the late Matthew and Constance (Cortese) Palumbo. He graduated from Catholic Central High School and served as a Medical Technician for the Army from 1945 -1946. Michael and his wife, Maude, moved to Massillon in 1951 where he worked for Siff Shoes and then retired from Schwebel's Baking Company. Michael was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Massillon, the Massillon Lion's Club, and The Knights of Columbus. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Palumbo and Patrick Palumbo; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Bernie Palma. Michael is survived by his wife, Maude (DiGregory) Palumbo to whom he was married 57 years; his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle (Greg) Rajsich; his daughter and son-in-law, Malia (Jeff) Gerber; son and daughter-in-law, Matt (Beth) Palumbo; five grandchildren, Dia, Gina, and Nina Palumbo; Mandy Gerber (Nick) Rohr, and Adam Gerber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon. There will be no calling hours. His pastor, Fr. Raymond Paul will be Officiating.
