Michael J. Berbari

Michael J. Berbari,68, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 29, 2021. He was born in Massillon on February 1, 1953 to the late Thomas and Geri (Clark) Berbari. He was a 1971 graduate of Washington High School and a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon. Michael worked at Elum Music for a short time and then had a career as a truck driver which began with McClain Groceries and ended with Fleming Foods and retired after 36 years of service. After his retirement, Michael worked for Massillon Municipal Court as a bailiff for some years. Michael’s greatest accomplishments in life were being a husband, father, brother and Jido which he did passionately and faithfully. He made a wonderful life for them all but especially his son who has fond memories from his childhood all including his dad. They enjoyed sled riding, playing catch, attending concerts, sporting events and going to the race track together. Michael will be remembered for his willingness to always help others with no expectations of repayment and always did so with a smile on his face. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Mara (Casto) of 45 years; his loving son Michael Berbari II and fiancé Machelle Hadley; his grandchildren who were his pride and joy Makaila Berbari and Michael Berbari III; and his sister Lori Berbari Stolte. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother Tommy Berbari, Jr. and step-brother Jimmy Shaffer. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 6th from 6-8 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 7th, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Massillon with Fr. Raymond Paul officiating. Burial will take place after at St. Joseph Cemetery.
