Michael G. Woods

Michael G. Woods, 63, of Strasburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. He was born on November 23, 1957, in Orrville, the son of Junior and Joyce (Ott) Woods. He was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1975 graduate of Tuslaw High School. Mike worked at Crown Cork & Seal Company as a shift lead mechanic for the last 34 years. He loved spending time with and teaching his children and grandchildren as much as he could. He especially had a close bond with his grandson, Weston. Mike was an outdoorsman, spending most of his time at Salt Fork where he could be found camping, boating, hunting, and fishing. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Jackie Lang, and sister-in-law, Michelle Woods. Along with his parents, Junior and Joyce Woods, he is survived by his loving wife Cheryl (Jones) Woods whom he shared 10 years of marriage on May 14th; children, Corey (Siobhan Davis) Woods, Erin (Caleb) McKnight, Sammie (Matthew) Walsh, Matthew (Brittaney) Allen, Chelsea (Kevin) Clark, and Callie (Trevor) Merry - Shaw; grandchildren, Weston, Gavin, Aubree, Lilly, Paxton, Blake, Ryan, and Grant; brothers, Doug (Ann) Woods, Kenny Woods, and Greg (Kris) Woods; and numerous nieces and nephews. A gathering will be held for friends and family on Saturday, July 3, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. In lieu of flowers, donate to your favorite nature center or park. Following the gathering, those who are able are invited to join the family at the First Christian Church located next to the funeral home for a luncheon prepared in Michael’s name.
