Melanie L. Shine, age 54, of Perry Twp., went home to be with her Lord on January 29, 2016. She was born on September 25, 1961 to the late Nile and Shirley (Holt) Dunbar. Melanie was a graduate of Fairless High School and cosmetology school. Melanie loved to travel, including on motorcycles. Her favorite place was Arizona; she worshipped the heat and sun even if it was poolside in Ohio. She held her memories close, especially those of growing up with her brother and many cousins and also time spent as a hairdresser where she took pride in her work. Melanie had a great interest in movies and music, enjoying Journey and Peter, Paul, and Mary. She delighted in Christmas and time spent with family. She was passionate about animals and rescued dogs, cats, and horses. Devotion to Christ guided Melanie through rough waters. She should be remembered fondly for her giving spirit. She was preceded in death by her daughter Amber Dunbar and brother Nile Dunbar. Melanie is survived by her husband Ronald Shine, daughter Katie (Andy) Harter; step daughters Cari Shine, Jennifer (Jason) Darrah and grandchildren: Ivy Randles, Cole Lutz, and Justin and Jamie Darrah. Services will be 2pm Friday at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Friends may call from 1pm until the service on Friday. Burial will be at East Union Lawn Cemetery.
