Our beloved Maybelle A. Smith passed away on February 21, 2010, surrounded by family. She was born on March 3, 1930 in Bolivar, Ohio. Maybelle lived a long life of faith, hard work, and generosity. She graduated from Washington High School in 1948 and married Floyd “Smitty” Smith in 1951. Maybelle was employed most of her life, starting with Grissom-Russell Co. and ending, after “retirement” at Kamph’s Hardware. Yet, she found time to volunteer hundreds of hours at Massillon City Hospital. She was active in her church, Faith Community Fellowship. Maybelle was an avid fan of the Massillon Tigers, seldom missing a game. She enjoyed her card clubs, camping, boating, watching sporting events, and social outings. Maybelle is survived by her daughter Tamara Stanford and son-in-law Michael Stanford, granddaughter LeeAnn Sues (Jason), sisters Marcella Clark, Helen Kegley (Bill) and Jayne Swihart, and many family members and friends. She is preceded in death by Smitty, her parents Clarence and Alta Stuber, and sister Doris Wineman . Maybelle is admired for her determined and uncomplaining three year battle with cancer. Her kind heart will be missed by all who knew her. A funeral service will take place Thursday, February 25th at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Kager officiating. At the Arnold Lynch Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Rd., Massillon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
