Mary Winkler

Mary Ellen Winkler died at age 90 on the afternoon of Saturday, November 28, 2020. She no longer has to spend her days with, in her words, “old people who are no fun.” Mary always said “let’s do something exciting” and now she can choose to do whatever she likes. Mary was born on November 30, 1929 to Earl Gravis and Margaret Cormany in Akron, Ohio. Mary is survived by her children Jo Ellen Russo, Mark Winkler, Dana Winkler and her eight grandchildren. Mary spent her working years doing many different jobs, but the most interesting of which was working for the Massillon State Hospital (now Heartland Behavioral Health Center). She retired from the State Hospital in the early 1990s. Her retirement was filled with gardening, crafting, watching Judge Judy, and feeding the backyard wildlife. Charitable donations in Mary’s honor may be made to the Stark County Humane Society.
