Mary Van Carter age 86 of Massillon passed away Saturday September 22, 2007. She was born May 31 1921 in Uhrichsville, OH to the late Lazaros & Agape Sarianides. Most of her early years were spent in Massillon and then she moved to Washington D. C. where she met her husband Curtis. Mary had a distinguished career at the Department of Defense, working at the Pentagon. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Curtis (1981), two sisters and a brother, Ardey Manos, Vasie Guleff and Ernest Sarianides. Mary is survived by her son Curtis Van Carter of Napa Valley, CA; three sisters, Bessie Pearson of Bay City, MI., Olga Pachis and Margaret Gibson both of Massillon. Services will be 11 AM Thursday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon, Fr. Constanine Valantasis will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home (1100 Wales Road N. E.). A Saracusta Service will be at 7 PM Wednesday. The procession will form at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Garden in Massillon. A Memorial Fund has been established in Mary’s name at St. George Orthodox Church.
