Mary Teresa Maier, 93, of, Canton, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in Massillon, Ohio on October 3, 1923 to Michael and Emelia (Colaiacova) DiLoreto. She married George Maier Jr. on August 3, 1946. He passed away on August 18, 1991. Mary was a 1943 graduate of Mount Marie Academy. She was a lifelong member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and was very active in the Parish. Mary belonged to the church's Altar and Rosary Society, sang in the Choir and loved to cook meals for the nuns who stayed there. She worked at Republic Steel and Perry Local Schools where she retired in 1986 as Hall Monitor. Mary also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She loved to bowl, golf and was active in her card club. She was also known for her contagious laugh and preparing spaghetti for all to enjoy. Mary will be deeply missed by her children, Michael (Connie) Maier of Massillon, Anita (companion Larry Hensel) Cramer of Canton, Victoria Maier of Canton, Amelia (partner Sandi) Maier of East Canton, Carmela Maier of Canton and Mary Jo (Jim) Levering of Malvern; one brother Albert DiLoreto of Canton; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband George, sister Nancy Miller and son-in-law Dale Cramer. Friends may call Tuesday, October 18, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home, in Massillon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice.
