Mary L. Keys

Mary L. Keys, age 77 of Massillon, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Affinity Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on July 22, 1935 in Birmingham, AL and was the daughter of Bennie and Susie (Brooks) Steele. They preceded her death. Mary had worked at Ecko Housewares and for MRDD (Voca). She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She was known to many as "Grandma", but to her CBer friends she was "Disco Lady". She formerly ran "Big Mary's Barbeque" by Schrader's Market. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Keys. Mary is survived by her children, Val T. Keys, Venus Keys and Pierre Keys, her siblings, Amie Sheegog, Jesse L. Steele, Robert Steele, Caroline Groce and Gloria Steele and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church from 11-12 Noon on Friday. Funeral services will take place at 12 Noon with Rev. Joseph Harkless officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
