Mary Catheryn Kemp

Mary Catheryn 'Cathy' Kemp, 52, of Massillon, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. Cathy was born on June 12, 1972 in Spencer, WV the daughter of Stephen Short and Alice (Parsons) Witmer.

Cathy graduated from Fairless High School in 1991. She received her Master's Degree in Social Working from Campbellsville University. Cathy worked as a State Surveyor for the State of Ohio. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the Ocean. She loved spending time on the beach. She also loved spending time at museums, as she was a history buff. She enjoyed watching many television shows, such as Survivor, Grey's Anatomy, Umbrella Academy, and The Soprano's. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Jeremiah Kemp, whom she shared 28 years of marriage; daughters, Madison Kemp, and Ripley Kemp; mother, Alice Witmer; brother, Stephen (Kathy) Short, II; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Stephen Short; and her brother, Christopher Short.

There will be no calling hours or services. Cremation will take place. A Celebration of Cathy's Life will take place at a later date.
