Mary Jane Durishin

Mary Jane Durishin, 93, of Beach City, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022. She was born on January 29, 1929, in Jackson, Michigan to the late Richard and Alice (Shaddock) Young. She graduated from Columbus North High School in 1946 and furthered her education at The Ohio State University where she earned a degree in Business Administration in 1950. Mary Jane loved being around people and it truly showed through her career as a stewardess for TWA, as well as her involvement in the community. She volunteered her time over the years with the VOCI choir, the Canton Civic Ballet, Doctor's Hospital Service League, Massillon Boy's and Girl's Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Canton Garden Club and Massillon Woman's Club to name a few. She was also a devout Catholic and member of Holy Family Parish in Navarre where she also sang in the choir. Prior to her dedication to her community, Mary Jane was the matriarch of her family and married the late Dr. Michael R. Durishin, D.O., on June 7, 1958. They did extensive traveling over the years which Mary Jane truly loved. She was also an avid gardener, growing beautiful flowers for everyone to enjoy. She will be deeply missed by her children, Susan Durishin of Cleveland, Richard (Julia Petipas) Durishin of Norwalk, CT, Michael Durishin of Massillon, and Jonathan (Jennifer) Durishin of Dublin; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; as well as her sister, Melinda Stuart of Benardsville, NC. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary Jane was preceded in death by her sister, Kathryn Tichenor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 10th at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Parish, 216 Wooster St NE, Navarre, OH 44662. Following the mass, Mary Jane will be laid to rest with her husband at Foxfield Preserve, 9877, Alabama Ave SW, Wilmot, OH 44689.
