Mary Jane Bugg, 82, of Massillon, passed away on June 8, 2024, at Aviva Hills Assisted Living.
She was born on June 3, 1942, to the late Jay and Martha (King) Newcomb in Sault Sainte Marie, MI.
Mary's life was filled with love, service, and passion for her interests. As a member of Divine Mercy Parish (St. Joseph Catholic Church), she dedicated her time to assisting in the crafts for the Vacation Bible School, teaching 3rd-grade CCD on Sundays, and serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Her contributions to Mercy Medical Hospital, where she served as an instructor at the nursing school for around 20 years, undoubtedly impacted countless lives through her dedication to education and healthcare.
Mary had many interests and hobbies. She was an Amateur Radio Operator with the call sign WD8CRL. Her love for sewing led her to give lessons at The Viking Center and Joann Fabrics, and she loved to participate in quilting camps. Her commitment to her family was evident in her dedication to them and teaching her grandchildren how to cook and bake, which she also loved to do. Along with her hobbies, she collected Lady Bugs and Angels.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Ralph E. Bugg; children, Catherine (Terry) Greenwalt, Patricia (Brian) Kuntz, and Ralph "Ed" (Laura) Bugg, Jr.; grandchildren, Christine (Vincent) Hardman, Samantha (Kayla) McGee, Melissa Greenwalt, Allison Kuntz, Evan Bugg, Corinn Bugg, and Ethan Kuntz; great-grandchildren, Aiyden, Sophia, Maci, Zane, Victor and Violet; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marjorie Cheever and Gayle Mead.
